Before you mitigate, you test. Iowa law requires elevated-radon disclosure during real estate transactions, and the EPA recommends every home below the third floor be tested at least once.
We offer three test types in Iowa City:
Short-term tests (48–96 hours) — the standard for real estate transactions and initial screening. We place a continuous radon monitor in the lowest livable level, leave it for at least 48 hours under closed-house conditions, and provide an EPA-protocol report.
Long-term tests (90+ days) — alpha-track or electret detectors that average radon levels across seasons. More representative of true year-round exposure.
Continuous monitoring — for homes with mitigation systems already installed, or for ongoing peace of mind.
